GEF project development in Brazil: Team leadership role in the Project Preparation Grant (PPG) for the project: “Innovation ecosystem for the circularity of plastics, reduction of consumption, and disposal of single-use plastic in the HORECA sector”
The project aims to advance plastic circularity in the Food and Beverage sector working with the HORECA sector (hospitality, restaurant and catering) creating a conducive policy and regulatory environment piloted in coastal cities. EBD Global Optimum worked in a partnership with Brazilian company Katalizar for implementing the Project Preparation Grant (PPG) for this new GEF project for Brazil, developed under the Global Integrated Program on the Circularity of Plastics in GEF8. The work involved project design, according to the standards of UNEP and the GEF, and an intense process of engaging stakeholders, women included, and it involved a series of structured interviews, local workshops in four Brazilian cities and frequent missions to Brasilia.
